MTDC Commercialisation Carnival 2013 organised for the first time by Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) here, was well received by some 700 guests from the northern region.
Graced by YB Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, it was attended by MTDC grant recipient and Symbiosis companies, officers from the Government agencies, lecturers and undergraduate students, primary and secondary school students in the northern region, print and electronic media representatives, as well as the general public.
Also present were MTDC Chairman YBhg Datuk Siti Hadzar Mohd Ismail; MTDC CEO YBhg Dato’ Norhalim Yunus; Technical Committee and Approval Committee members of TAF/CRDF and BSF/BGF; MTDC Management and Head of Departments.
Held recently at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang, the Carnival was divided into two sessions – morning and afternoon. Components of the morning session include MTDC’s bi-annual event known as ReUNITES, Commercialisation Workshop, Technopreneurship Workshop, and Innovation/Technology Workshop.
Concurrently was an exhibition comprising 63 exhibitors – MTDC CRDF/TAF companies (19 booths); MTDC Symbiosis companies (43 booths) and Supertots Malaysia (one booth).
In the afternoon was a launching ceremony by YB Tan Sri Nor of products manufactured by two of MTDC’s grant recipeint companies – Han JDQ L (M) Sdn Bhd, producer of various types of innovative LED lighting products for the general illumination market under its brand name “Hans LedLite”; and AJV Electronic Devices Sdn Bhd, producer of electronic Al-Quran reading device using an “intelligent pen”.
YB Tan Sri Nor also presented mock cheques to 29 local technology-based companies of grants/funds with total value amounts to RM79 million. The recipients received the CRDF (16 companies); Business Start-up Fund (10 companies); and Business Growth Fund (3 companies).
In addition to that, the winning schools of the Innovation/Technology Workshop were presented with trophies and cash prices by YB Tan Sri Nor.
